Your phone will ask whether to allow installing apps from your browser — that warning is Android's standard one for anything not from the Play Store. Trekov is signed by us, and the app updates itself after that.

  1. Tap the button above; the file lands in your Downloads.
  2. Open it, and allow Install unknown apps for your browser when asked.
  3. Install, then sign in.

Coming to Google Play. Already installed? The app keeps itself up to date and will tell you when a new version is worth downloading.

iPhone and iPad

Apple only allows apps from the App Store, so there is nothing to download yet — Trekov is on its way there. Until it lands, run it from Safari: it goes on your Home Screen with its own icon, opens full screen, and works offline.

  1. Open trekov.com/app in Safari.
  2. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Everything works except notifications and tracking with the screen off — both need the App Store version.

Laptop

Nothing to install: trekov.com/app is the whole app. Plan the trip on a big screen, and it is on your phone when you ride.

Is it safe?

The Android file is signed with our own key, so your phone can tell that an update really came from us. It asks for location (the map and the live group), the camera (photos you take at a place) and the microphone (push-to-talk) — nothing else, and each only when you use that part. What it keeps is written out in the privacy policy.
